Yes It’s Cold, Windy, and Slippery…But

Daughter lives in Florida, where it’s right now in the 70s. Son lives in California where it’s just about 60. We live in northern Illinois where it bounces between a wind chill of minus 20 and just above freezing.

Why do we keep it up?

Because perpetual warmth is boring. Because cold kills the bugs. Because this is home.

Here on the farm even a light snow drifts shut the pasture gates. the feed lot, and the path for running the dogs. But the worst combination was these past couple of weeks when the sting of the cold, and the footing madness of the ice made every chore a challenge.

And yet, it is the way of the Creation. And we pray, and we observe, and we delight in the dogs.
