Heatherhope Farm invites everyone to “Meet and Greet the Lambs 2014” set for Saturday, June 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
It’s been a good year! We have 34 lambs out on the pasture now and there are two ewes that may lamb as late as early June, so you may see a very teensy-tiny one or two.
This event will be a go rain or shine. Dress for it. If it happens to be very wet we will spend more time in the house, but also go out for quick looks at the lambs and perhaps join some in the barn.
We will have some free beverages and snacks, but you are also invited to bring your own favorite foods and beverages for an entire lunch.
We will, of course, also invite you to meet and greet Smeagol, the fat cat, and the dogs (Border Collies Cap, Abbie, Bess, Nell, Spot, Betty and Hector and trusty sheep-guardian dog, Frodo) and watch them herd and guard the flock. They love to snuggle too.
If you bring your own dogs, please keep them on the leash unless invited to do otherwise. If the weather is good you can take a long walk around the back hay field.
We’ll have some games for the kids too, but we hope all ages will enjoy a great time watching the lambs frolic and the dogs do a little herding. We will pick up one of this year’s three bottle lambs for petting, and good-ole #248, who is now two-years old and now is a new mother herself, will surely come by for a good pet.
Feel free to invite friends to join you. Of course there is never an admission charge for this. We love having visitors. But we do ask that, if you can, you call (815-895-9736) or e-mail us (heatherhopefarm@gmail.com) to let us know how many will be coming.
You can call for directions if you don’t know the way to our place, or you can just click on the “Directions” tab at the top of any page of this web site to find written directions and an interactive map.
We would love it if you could join us!
